In Maryland, licensed real estate agents must renew their licenses every 2 years. This basically involves taking continuing education courses insuring licensees are up to date with new and existing laws and remitting the renewal fee.

Yesterday, The CE Shop (a major player in the area of education for real estate agents across the country) sent a 40% off coupon so I decided to enroll in the course package I need to renew my license.

Note, the illustration also shows the courses I took in January 2024 for the April 21, 2024 renewal.

I have six months to complete the courses through The CE Shop, however, MREC requires completion 30 days prior to the license expiration date of April 21, 2026.

Do you want to ask, "What are you doing with the real estate license?" I am a referral agent and not as much as I would like, however, I wanted the license too much to allow it to lapse.

Because of ongoing legal issues, everything is a potential law suit. So many things can go wrong with a real estate transaction.

I wanted to become a transaction coordinator after I originally obtained the license for this reason. Even though I applied to be a transaction coordinator, the firms would only accept me as an agent. I wanted the hands on experience through the other door which I felt would be legally safer. Today, I research this or that, however, no longer apply for transaction coordinator positions.
