Establishing a Real Estate Web Presence

It has been awhile since I have done any work with WordPress. Q's Wire was a WordPress blog that went online in the spring of 2005, and was retired in 2020 or so.

Over the weekend I began researching options for establishing a web presence for my real estate interests. The first major hurdle involved my current domain registrations and could any of those domains be used.

  • qisoftware.com
  • hosting-q.com
  • reginadenisthomas.com
  • hanover-magazine.com
  • hanovermaryland.org
  • wired-shops.com

I wanted to use a subdomain on reginadenisethomas.com, however because of existing Apache/Tomcat configurations, I ran into too many issues. I also thought about hanovermaryland.org, but decided I really want that domain available for the Hanover-Magazine project. So I registered a new domain, reginathomas.studio.

I am in the very early stages of these development efforts, and have to say, WordPress has changed. The biggest issue, each time I tried to test a newly installed template, the original template selected at the time of the cPanel Softaculous app installation, was always presented. Somehow the original template's CSS files were stored as permanent and nothing I did worked to correct this issue.

I finally found a way around the issue after reinstalling WordPress at least ten times. Shown below, screenshots of both the current look of the WordPress site, and my research & development efforts with Open Real Estate another offering of cPanel's Softaculous App Installer.

I am glad I spent most of the weekend coming up to speed with WordPress and web development. As I indicated, a lot has changed since the last time I looked underneath the engine of WordPress.

Do you want to ask if I have found a real estate broker to affiliate with? Am I more concerned with real estate web development efforts, than a broker affiliation? No. I want to apply for my license as soon as possible, however in the meantime I thought I would work projects I have more control over, namely my new web presence.

By the way, I can apply for an inactive Maryland license without a broker, however, wanted to apply for an active original real estate salesperson license from the outset.
