Lately, I have been taking a course, zooming, making financial moves or adding technical know-how to my skill set. The other activity? Waiting for the gardens to start their seasonal display. I love this time of year.

Okay, so back to work. I wanted to do more with NodeJS so I added the functionality to my local development environment, Netbeans.

I wanted to run NodeJS tests on one of my two web hosts (primary domains: qisoftware.com, hosting-q.com), however because both run Apache Tomcat to support my Java development efforts, felt the configuration would be more complicated than I wanted, so I opted for my local development environment.
That said, although I like Java JDBC/Servlets to quickly access SQL databases, NodeJS's ability to access databases with a Javascript server backend seemed an interesting option. Why not use AJAX? Quite frankly both appear to do the same thing, however lately, I have noticed a lot of requests for NodeJS support. So I thought I would take a look. Seems very easy.
The next technical issue I wanted to resolve? I use Thingamablog (Standalone Blogging), which does not support comments. I added a comments database to generate more engagement, however the work-around I developed for the 'read more' teaser required the 'read more' part of the blog post have no double quotes, carriage returns or linefeeds. A glitch with Thingamablog.
I have been using an online service to remove the characters that caused issues then decided to write a program. The application would have been an easy program, however I had to bone up on C++ for Windows and then find an IDE already setup for C++ development. I use a lot of Java (these days) and tend to write I/O files using Java, however had done a lot of work with C++ using an old copy of Borland C++ compiler. So I thought it would be fun to use C++ for this effort using Netbeans.
While readying this project, I decided to look at the VIM editor I use on both Mac and Windows platforms for editing. Some of my HTML files require cleaner output than Notepad, WordPad, and the Mac textedit programs offer, so I started using VIM a while back. I used to use VI on Unix platforms so I knew it was pretty powerful, and decided to do more research on VIM. Yes, found the command I needed to generate the noline break file I needed for my 'read more' teaser blog posts.

On the financial front, because interest rates are on the rise, starting in December 2021- I have added over $120.00 a month of income to my family's bottom line (again that is monthly) simply by setting up CDs with great interest rates.I have picked up on all of the financial terms, IRA, IRA Roth, Rollover, Bump up CD, etc. Do I play the market? No. I was holding money in HYSAs until the CD rates started to improve and that began late December.
On the real estate front, I took my first Continuing Education course on May 18, 2022 and accrued 2.0 hours in elective credits toward my license renewal in April 2024.

And then there was the life insurance policy someone setup for someone else about 18 years ago. No, I was not on the phone this morning for longer than I had to be because someone died. I was on the phone trying to figure out why the premiums already paid were almost as much as the face value of the policy. I am not a beneficiary on the policy I called about today, however rather shocked by the actual terms of the policy. Why not have the person who set it up fix it? Secretarial support that is no longer available. Make sure your secretary or mistress is not setting up your life insurance policy.
I have been emailing, mailing, faxing and e-signing a lot lately, however only because I cannot afford an attorney and my signature works. I am told the extensive research I did creating legal documents is legally sound and the only reason not perfect, it covers a lot. A real attorney would have done what the insurance guy did this morning who did not want to lose that monthly premium. Pretend like he was granting a big favor for a whole lot of money with no face value and avoiding any and all relevant questions. A real attorney would not have covered as much. Am I mixing concepts a bit? Yes. Can I hold up in a court room? Yes. Use that one. I wish I had taped the call.
Question of the day? Does your secretary or mistress do this type of work? Take a guess as to why I would write a post with what I have actually been doing for the last week? Is this about the policy? No. Actually, I did fix that without allowing any losses so I am not mad about that. This has to do with someone else's world and I cannot figure out why I am even involved. I have a lot of irons in the fire. This is about, I cannot figure out where I put bimbo on my resume.
Why was I gossiping with the secretaries? I wasn't. I was trying to get one of my documents published and over to the Naval Sea Systems Command's task POC. I heard them talking. This too, can be checked.
